Mum’s the word at Subi Farmer’s Markets
Subi Farmer’s Market and Perth Upmarket, both run by local mums, will join forces on Saturday 1st May to help solve the age old dilemma of what to buy Mum for Mother’s Day.
Sally Lewis, Subi Farmers Market coordinator, says the idea to combine the two markets for a one-off Mother’s Day event was born out of a desire to offer Perth sons and daughters an alternative to the stress of a last minute department store rush. “Combining the unique, hand-made crafts, jewellery and clothing on offer at Perth Upmarket with the foodie options available at Subi Farmers Markets was a way to ensure we could offer something for all tastes,” Ms Lewis said. “Holding the one day event the week before Mother’s Day will hopefully help children of all ages avoid the stress of a last minute trip to overcrowded shopping centres.”
Founder of Perth Upmarket, Justine Barsley, said “we are excited about partnering with the Subi Farmer’s Market for this Pop Up event. It means that customers can still shop with our Upmarket
Retailers in between our normal larger events and Mother’s Day is a perfect time to purchase something that has been designed by a local artisan.”
In addition to solving the ‘what to buy Mum’ annual dilemma, visitors can soak up the village-like atmosphere of the markets by listening to a live performance by a local musical act, browsing through the 60 market stalls and lingering over a coffee and brunch.
Children are well catered for with a host of activities such as a craft table, fishing game and playground.
For those regulars who stock up weekly on fresh produce from the markets, all of the farm fresh fruit and vegetables, meats, seafood, breads, eggs, nuts, fresh hand-made pasta, olive oils, preserves, juice and ice-cream will be available as usual.
The markets will be open from 8.00am until 1.00pm on Saturday, 1st May at Subiaco Primary School, Bagot Road, Subiaco. There is plenty of free parking available within walking distance.
