Cambinata Yabbies are back at SFM this week! Live yabbies or Gourmet Yabbies & Abalone available in 3 varieties. Cambinata Yabbies are prepared by the 4th generation of the Nenke Family near the tiny town of Kukerin, south east of Perth. In 2001 they won their 1st export award & began preparing detectably ‘goumet yabbies’ in jars – adding ‘gourmet abalone’ to their range in 2006. All preservative & gluten-free these delicious treats are very low in cholesterol & are ideal as appetisers, with pasta, crusty bread & salads. Bring the kids to see the live yabbies. Only at Subi once/month.

New this week to Subi Farmers Market is a Mushroom Stall – with several types of freshly picked mushrooms seasonally.
Quality, taste & freshness are of the highest priority at SFM – with most of the produce picked the day before it is sold.
Minimal spraying, organic & bio-dynamic farming techniques are employed by many of the growers to bring the healthiest & tastiest produce to you.
Now in season are delicious organic rockmelons, organic blueberries & mangoes – come & taste for yourself!
Stone fruit are also at their best this time of year – we have plenty of sweet, delicious peaches, plums & nectarines available.

About the Author:
Brendan Casey is a best-selling technical author and hydraulics expert – his current day job.
The Farmer Mick stories are based on Brendan’s experience growing up and working on farms with his father, Mick. This is something he did for the first 23 years of his life.
So Farmer Mick and some of the other characters you’ll meet were real. But many are imagined. And while based in fact, the stories are fantasy – written to amuse, entertain and inform.
Brendan Casey is an ex-farmer who wants to give something back to the farming community – and so part proceeds from the sale of his new, children’s picture book supports the
Aussie Helpers Children’s Fund – helping farming families who are doing it tough in the bush.
Don’t miss storytime this week at 9.30am at Subi Farmers Market!

Giovanni (John) Maiorana, aka the Gourmet Godfather, has been an influential food observer in Western Australia since the sixties. His background in mathematics and teaching, together with his love of the hospitality industry, led to running his passionate cooking classes for 30 years. He combined his passion for both food and mathematics by developing an objective criteria-referenced restaurant assessment system that has been adopted first by RCIA WA and then by the national parent body. This system is still in use to judge restaurants for the National Awards for Excellence.
Since resigning from his teaching post, John has opened Designed Kitchen Appliances with Dominic Calautti where he can focus on his love of the history of food and the cooking of the dishes that spring to him from the pages of history. He still chairs the WA Awards for excellence and is on the National Judging Panel.
An Australian founding member of the Slow Food movement, he recently addressed the local group on the occasion of the visit of Dott. Carlo Petrini, the President of the movement. The theme of the address was The Importance of Markets in any Community with the express purpose of trying to return markets in the CBD.
COME & SEE THE GOURMET GODFATHER GIOVANNI MAIORANA
this week at SFM 9am under the tree – be the first to hear about his new Restaurant Guide for Perth!

This week for the 1st time we’ll have Bath Milk available at Subi Farmers Market. This is normally rather hard to get hold of – unpasteurised & unhomogenised – it’s about as natural as it gets straight from the cow!!
Go to Sunnydale Dairy Stall to see what all the fuss is about! Word is getting out about how smooth their milk is – delicious & so much better than drinking homogenised milk. They already sell their beautiful cream & cheese in glass containers – soon we’ll be able to buy our milk in glass too!! Stay tuned…
