Joe Black Trio go from strength to strength

Joe Black Trio keep getting better! This trio makes the perfect team, all are classically trained all are willing to push the boundaries of modern music.

The band is made up of three quirky, fresh faced girls Julia, Hollie and Ellen and Julia’s dalmatian dog Joe, in which the band is named after. Joe attends every gig with the girls and is entrenched in the act. The girls reflect their music, which is earthy, soulful and most importantly toe tapping! The are pushing the boundary of their classical training and are producing music which is loved by the crowds especially at the Subi Farmers Market.

The girls play at the markets when their very hectic schedule permits. Of late they have been preparing for their debut EP which launches next Thursday night at The Bird, Northbridge. This show will showcase their gypsy inspired jazz music, it will be full of fun and a must see. The Subi Farmers Market would like to congratulate the girls on a their latest triumph and wish JBT all the best. We will see them soon at the markets.

Final Farm Workshop this weekend

It is the final Farm Workshop this weekend at the Subi Farmers Market.

The last three weeks have been a huge success with children and adults meeting real life farmers and getting to learn what life is like in the country. Our farmers have been wonderful in giving up their time and getting involved in the workshops.

Week one saw Annie from Spencers Brook Farm talk about pig farming. She breeds a rare bread of Berkshire Pigs and told the crowd all about how they grow, what they eat and how they roam free on the land. Week two saw Ross from WA Hills Fresh talk about their fruit orchards in Karragullen. He spoke of the beautiful nectarine trees in bloom that look spectacular at this time of the year. He taught the crowd about how nectarines and apples grow and how you know when to pick them. Week three saw Ellah from Eggs by Ellah, a new generation farmer who loves her hens. She spoke about life as an egg farmer and even brought with her some beautiful baby chicks.

This week Juliet from Over the Moon Dairy will be talking about her Jersey Cows. She will talk about how she has names for all of her cows and she will tell everyone about the milking process and the cheese making process. Don’t miss this great opportunity to meet a real life farmer.

Of course I cant go past the best part….Helen from Cook Learn Love has been cooking up a storm with the crowds. After each talk she has cooked with the produce supplied by the farmer. She has cooked Pork Terrine, Rhubarb and Apple Crumbles, Lemon and Passionfruit Crepes and this week it is Strawberry Pannacottas!

The workshop starts at 10.00am. Just look for the Scarecrow Kids.
